Outstanding performance by Beatrice Rana, one of the best pianists.

One of the best renditions of this piece that i have ever heard. The unusually high overall quality of the experience more than make up for the couple mistakes during the beginning. She is so refreshing and exciting to listen to as compared to many others

She is an amazing pianist I saw her in San Antonio in a piano recital..... Never made a mistake..... Played so beautiful, impeccable, her interpretation was absolutely stunning, ....... things happen, even to the most famous.... she is only 20 yrs old and getting better ...... I am sure that she will be as good or better than Martha Argerich.......love both of them......

Counting note mistakes is for all of us that have only taken for a few years. I think she had a different tempo in mind than the orchestra was playing and the difference broke her concentration ... made up for it later with beautiful phrasing.

Those mistakes could have spoilt the whole piece but it turn out a joy to sit threw.

For an artist of this caliber the mistakes she makes are really strange. Especially since she played this same piece perfectly 3 years earlier when she was only 15 yrs old! (see the YT vid) I think she must've been ill. She actually doesn't look well in the close-up just before all the errors.

The mistakes in the opening semi-cadenza is shocking - for THIS pianist. SO simple - one note!. I rather suspect that she was using a reinforced 3rd finger (thumb backing) - but that should make for more accuracy as well as a bigger sound. Dumbfounded1

+Gerrie Collins Do you perform as often as this pianist? If not, then you don't understand how hard it is to perform so much difficult music, and from memory!

I don't perform anymore, but I've done 'my share' as a non-professional. In addition I have taught piano in two different universities and prepared-*coached* many a Senior and Graduate Recital. The things I say here are just pianistic common sense as found in many similar constructs. Using the thumb-reinforced 3rd finger renders better accuracy AND bigger sound (as needed). Miss Rana is a tremendously gifted pianist who won 2nd. prize in the Van Cliburn Competition of 2011(?) - 2014(?) [I 'voted' her 1'st place, but she got 2nd.]
