| I am on twitter. Same username :D Don't underestimate or write off twitter so fast. It has its uses. I was able to get a very quick response from the Comcast twitter rep when I was having some issues with my cable. He got me fast access to the executive customer service team who responded with shocking speed to help me. It is very good for getting a fast response from various companies. I will say that the Christopher Walken twitter updates are hilarious (especially when you imagine them being said in his voice) It was also very handy when we were having the riots here in Oakland a month or two ago. When they started, there were people all over downtown twittering about what they saw in terms of police presence, rioter damage, etc. It was helpful for me, who works in downtown Oakland, to figure out how to get home, what routes to take, if I needed to leave early, etc. It was also fun to monitor Twitter back on election day. The poll results stream was crazy active, with people reporting problems with polling areas and balloting issues. (and who they voted for ^^) Sure, if all you think twitter is for is stuff like "I'm pooping" then yeah, it is not going to be useful for you. I think all those popularity-contest people who spend all day trying to amass followers are pretty stupid (it's like people on forums who care about post-count) too. But I have found a lot of interesting people on there. You have to make it work for you, don't just randomly follow anyone. |

| ok ok well im addicted to the twitter as well... like ALL social networks, it wont work unless you have actual friends and ppl who enjoy the same things as you or good for idle pointless chitchat. If you dont have friends there are quite a few celebrities worth stalking-ish. kim kardashian, keviin smith, miley cyrus, shaquille o neal, and some hip hop artists and DJs. Granted 9 times out they're fake, but if you actually listen to the radio or find out their legit twitter name (or their agent) they usually come up with some interesting stuff or some pretty interesting pics, videos, or sites... I even get a few decent deals through twitter from amazon and papajohns and frys and priceline among other things. I mean where can i find a (legit) copy of William Shatners first CD "The Transformed Man" for $3 Like any social website, its only as good as you make it to be. Oh btw if you want to follow me or whatever its @ranivus Hah... just looking through my 'following' its mostly celebs and hardly any friends definitely need to fix that one day... :( /dies |
