REACTING TO GIRUGAMESH!

i saw your reaction, and it reminded me the day i discovered girugamesh - i was asking myself where the hell and what in the world was i doing & listening to all these years, that i just found out about their own kind of music a year before they disbanded.
it was loss. but they left us many songs to hold on to until such time that they (might) come back together in the future.

I have been a fan of Girugamesh since '08 when I stumbled upon the track Owari to Mirai. Sadly, they are my absolute favorite band, period. This is sad because, short of a reunion tour, I will now never have a chance to see them live. I'd have killed for that opportunity. XD and now that they're disabanded...even killing somebody won't help. TT^TT ...also...I do not appreciate the irony that is naming their last track: --period--. 😐

Girugamesh is just the Japanese way to write "Gilgamesh." Also, in case you weren't aware, they're the source of the girugamesh guy meme. Look it up if you have to.
As for a suggestion... react to Malice Mizer (Illuminati and Au Revoir) and Blood Stain Child (Freedom and Last Stardust, I guess...)

their best song is "kowarete iku sekai". The lyrics are so deep and it hits me everytime I listen to it.

Also; here's the message from the band themselves on why they disbanded:
"girugamesh started from zero with hometown friends.

MUSIC is perhaps Girugamesh's best Album, but Monster is also a very good album

I searched girugamesh in RUclips search bar and is pleased to see your video. I listened to them in late 2011 and was indeed heart-broken by their disbandment. They were a band with diverse taste in music, no album sounds the same. My dream of one day to go to their live concert will never come, but girugamesh remains my favorite Japanese band.

Right in the disband!! :'( I can't live with the fact that they aren't together more!! :'( I knew the band after they concert in Mexico and I really liked! I thought that I could watch them the next time and months later they disbanded!! My heart still suffering!

The worst part about Girugamesh disbanded was that they disbanded on my birthday and they are the reason I started listening to J-metal. You should really watch Ryo Trackmaker, Ryo is so extremly talanted

LOL'd when you said "my body is ready". XD Now that we're past that, the name of the band is pronounced just like "Gilgamesh". It's the Japanese orthography that makes it difficult to get right. Anyhow, I heard the vocalist is now part of a band called REDMAN (I think), and the drummer has his own RUclips channel. Ryo TrackMaker, in case you want to look him up.
All of that being said, Danger Crue (Giru's former record label) was/is home to many kickass bands. I'll only mention DIV, ALSDEAD and Mucc. Unfortunately, one (DIV) disbanded and the other (ALSDEAD) is currently on hiatus. ALSDEAD was also labelmates with yo-ka and Kei's (DIAURA) former band Valluna for a brief period of time so... it's a small world, I guess.

SCREW, BORN, OZ, AvelCain, Lycaon, ACE, EAT YOU ALIVE, Kagrra, Ayabie are some of the awesome bands that have disbanded over the past months and yrs! there r others that are still on hiatus that are equally if not even more awesome too, namely Sadie and Nightmare.

Yaaas I love them so much! Last year they had a tour in Europe and it happened so that I have known them already for long but never listened to before that moment, so I thought it was a good point to start :) And then I loved them soo much -- only to learn later that they were disbanding :c I went to their concert which turned out to be soo HOOOOT! They rocked it!! From then on, a part of my heart has always been with them

trust, I am still hurt that they are broken up. they were one of my first jrock bands that I had a real CD from.
the Monster album is my favorite- it was just so clean with the rock and electronic mix.
also definitely check out the drummer of Girugamesh, ryo. he is my favorite member and he still does covers now.

and Shuu is planning new project, so maybe he will join another band
.... so they will still be there, but not together :(
Official reason was: "We accomplished everything we wanted in music industry, and we fulfilled our dreams..." - so they decided to stop but I don't think thats true cos they're still doing music!
There are rumors about them not getting along with each other and stuff...it all began after Satoshi created REDMAN (he was still in Girugamesh back then) so...I don't know the real reason but maybe thats it. They wanted to change genres of music and each one of them wanted to do different genre....maybe....

You should listen the meaning of the songs... :) The last CD Chimera, is talking about the disbanding, thats why ther's so DEATH and its more heavy that the time they made Incomplete or Break Down.

Omy gosh! I love your reactions. The first time I saw your video was when you reacted to one ok rock (which I am a fan of... Thank you for that too! ). It's my first time hearing about Girugamesh and I too am dissapointed of myself for not hearing them and knowing they disbanded. Haha

Followed them from the start to finish, got all their albums both in wraps and the pile I listen to. The music have helped me a lot in bad times. It's a band i recommend to many who want to get into the music now days. The lyrics are amazing as they both show experience and feelings as you keep listening. And they really made everything that was possible and did it great.

Considering in the Japanese language l and r are interchangeable it's probably Gilgamesh. While there is a final fantasy character named Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh is the main character in the epic of Gilgamesh, the earliest epic poem of all time. Gilgamesh is Sumerian myth from same culture that invented written language.

As for new recommendations: Please react to Kiryu (己龍)! They are quite individual and a mix between traditional Japanese style and rock music!
Song recommendations: etsu to utsu (悦ト鬱), oiranran (花魁譚), mugen houyou (夢幻鳳影) and ruru (屡流).

Girugamesh are like the Japanese equivalent of Linkin Park lol

Since the Japanese language has no "L" phonetic and each syllable ends in a vowel sound (except the "n" sound that appears at the end of some words), "Gilgamesh" has been phonetically sounded out to Gi - r/lu -ga - me - shi
when slurred together in spoken Japanese, it does sound close to Gilgamesh, particularly since the "u" gets slurred out...
I hope that helps. There are many Japanese pronunciation guides on the interwebs. It can't hurt :)
I'm pretty sure his friend for all the world, Enkidu, would still recognize the sound of the name, even in spoken Japanese.

You know... I actually went to their very last live here in europe and it was the best live ever!!! (Even got to take a picture with them!)
Break Down was their second last song (and my very first one) and I started crying at the first cords and Ryo (Drummer) was looking at me the whole time like: "are you ok???" It was so cute and nice xD ❤️
But I really miss them and this was the first time after the concert, I was able to listen to Break Down...
